Business Purpose
This process enables a partner to query another partner for price and availability
information. A price and availability query typically precedes a formal request for quote or placing a purchase order, although this is not required. The information exchanged in this process is preliminary and informal and does not commit the querying partner to a purchase transaction. The information supplied does not include freight and tax charges as would a formal quotation. Price and availability responses are not used to reconcile
purchase orders.
Process Description
This activity allows a partner to query product price and availability information from suppliers that can fulfill its purchasing requirements. The partner in the role of the Customer initiates the activity.
- The Customer sends a Price and Availability Query to the Product
Supplier.
- The Product Supplier processes the query and responds with a Price And
Availability Response.
- The Customer processes the response, and the process ends.
