EXTRICITY FOR ROSETTANET
The solution selected for high-tech and related industries…
time and time again.
We've invested hundreds of hours as a leading member of RosettaNet's Design Review Team and have led a number of the teams that are defining version 2.0 of the RosettaNet Implementation Framework. We're committed to ensuring that the RosettaNet specification meets your needs. Most importantly, we've created the solution to make it happen for you.

Extricity for RosettaNet, first introduced in October, 1999, was the first application designed from the ground up to enable business-to-business relationships using RosettaNet standards, and is the simplest way to integrate RosettaNet into your overall e-business strategy. Process-based

Open - Extricity for RosettaNet is interoperable with other B2B tools. It allows your organization to deploy and get connected with your customers and suppliers using RosettaNet XML standards in a matter of days. It supports other modes of interaction as well, including FTP, email, web browsers and EDI. It is also able to integrate diverse internal systems, such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Baan, files, COM, CORBA, etc., into a RosettaNet PIP.

Rapid - New customers or suppliers can be added in minutes after initial setup, which is usually only several days or weeks depending on the scope of the project. In addition, Extricity's pre-packaged adapters and application integration wizards make integration to your ERP or other internal systems a snap-without the need for additional point-to-point customization.

Scalable & Reliable - Companies like Arrow Electronics use Extricity for RosettaNet as their complete B2B platform to manage their mission-critical B2B processes with trading partners like Intel. Extricity for RosettaNet contains rich administration functionality that allows your organization to reconfigure its systems and integrate new PIPs without significant changeover costs or downtime. Plus, Extricity for RosettaNet contains sophisticated checkpoint and restart capabilities to recover gracefully due to network failures-capabilities that help ensure your success.

Process-based - Extricity defines the concept of inter-company business processes, which makes it a natural choice for the process-based RosettaNet standard. "Public" processes (PIPs) that run between your organization and its customers and suppliers are kept separate from internal or "private" processes (such as integrating to internal systems or performing internal approvals) to give unmatched flexibility. One can quickly and easily modify both types of B2B processes through Extricity's graphical management environment. Extricity for RosettaNet adapts to meet the needs of your company's business processes. Not the other way around.

In addition, we also partner with CommerceQuest to provide the leading hosted service for companies interested in outsourcing their RosettaNet implementations.

RosettaNet 101:

The RosettaNet organization has evolved its own, somewhat-whimsical vernacular for defining B2B relationships. Some highlights include:

"PIPs" - One may think of Gladys Knight, but no, Partner Interface Processes (PIPs) are the business process dialogs that companies engage in while performing B2B, such as placing an order and receiving an acknowledgement ("PIP3A4"), or checking product price and availability ("PIP2A5"). Examples of how our customers implement PIPs can be found here.

"Dances" - The implementation of one or more PIPs between trading partners. For example, Extricity enabled the first production (i.e. real dollars flowing through real systems) RosettaNet "dance" between Arrow Electronics and Intel.
